About the Scientific Library of SDU University

The Scientific Library of SDU University, established in 1996, is one of the university’s key academic and research support centers. As an integral part of the university’s intellectual infrastructure, the Library plays a vital role in fostering education, research, and innovation. It serves undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D students, as well as faculty members and administrative staff, by providing access to diverse and high-quality information resources.

Mission

The mission of the SDU Scientific Library is to enhance the quality of education, research, and innovation at the university by providing reliable, diverse, and effective information resources. Through advanced technologies, modern library services, and a commitment to academic excellence, the Library supports students, researches, instructors, and staff in their pursuit of knowledge and discovery.

Book and Resource Collection

The Library’s extensive collection includes printed books, e-books, academic journals, and databases. Subscriptions and trial access to a wide range of online databases ensure that users can explore the most up-to-date global research materials. The collection is expanded and updated annually to meet the evolving needs of SDU’s academic programs and research areas. Materials are sourced from reputable local and international publishers, information agencies, and book-selling networks, ensuring both breadth and academic quality.

Library Classification System (LCC)

In 2021, the Library began transitioning to the Library of Congress Classification (LCC) system, aligning with international cataloguing standards. Currently, all materials from the former reading room have been successfully reclassified under LCC and are now fully accessible to users in this modernized system.
