Request Electronic Materials via Interlibrary Loan Service
The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service allows SDU students and faculty to access electronic materials not available in the SDU Library Catalogue or EBSCO eBook Collection.
The SDU Scientific Library is honored to announce its partnership with the Library of Congress, one of the world’s largest research libraries. Its collections include nearly 175 million items, covering books, manuscripts, maps, audio‑visual recordings, images, and digital materials in about 470 languages. This partnership significantly broadens access to unique and rare materials, giving SDU students and faculty exceptional research opportunities.

Copyright Guidelines for Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
According to U.S. Copyright Law §108 and the CONTU Guidelines (Commission on New Technological Uses of Copyrighted Works), when requesting electronic materials via Interlibrary Loan (ILL), the following limits apply:
| Material Type | Maximum Copy Allowed |
|---|---|
| Journal Article | 1 article per issue |
| Book | 1 chapter or up to 5% of the book, whichever is greater |
| Short Book (≤200 pages) | Up to 10% |
| Anthology / Poem / Short Story | Up to 5%, max 10 pages |
| Report of a Single Case (Judicial Proceedings) | 1 case or up to 5% |

Important Notes:
Copies provided via ILL must be for private study, research, or teaching purposes only.
Requests exceeding these limits may violate copyright law and cannot be fulfilled.
Follow these steps to request materials through the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service:
Provide your full name, faculty, and contact information.
The article or book details will be automatically filled in.
Important: When requesting a book, you must indicate the exact pages or chapters you need.
Delivery:
ILL requests may take 3-5 working days, depending on the type of item and availability. If the requested material is available, you will receive it via email. Inaccurate information, especially inaccurate citation information, may slow your request. Be sure to fill out all information requested on the form and that title, issue, and page information are accurate. Including periodical ISSN numbers is helpful. ILL request forms that are insufficiently filled out will not be processed.
All requests must comply with the Copyright Guidelines for Interlibrary Loan (ILL) (see table above).
